Our Solar DC Home System
Rainy monsoon seasons and rodent nibbles were among some of the problems our original DC Home Systems faced. Over the course of our 4+ years of installing & operating in northern Myanmar, we redesigned our hardware to solve for these common environmental challenges, effectively serve community needs, and expedite installation processes.
Our DC Home System addresses the basic needs of rural off-grid communities. A majority of families utilize electricity for lighting and charging their devices.
The system comes with 5 LED lights along with 2 USB ports to charge phones and small electronics.
What about families who have higher energy needs? We also install AC Home Systems.
Designed by those with lived experience
Specially designed for off-grid communities in rural Myanmar by those living in off-grid, rural Myanmar, we centered local knowledge when designing the Solar Home System.
By centering lived experience in the design process, we knew:
how most homes were constructed,
where families like to place light in their homes, and
where the control box should be located
We made our designs user-friendly by situating the switches and USB ports on the front of the control box, and we made sure the hardware could withstand common local environmental conditions.
