Atutu is providing earthquake response in Myanmar

Our Amplify Healthcare Program aims to bring reliable energy access to healthcare infrastructure in marginalized and indigenous communities of Myanmar. Ensuring patients have access to low-cost and quality care, while increasing comfort and safety for both patients and staff overall.

Amplify Healthcare Program

The Amplify Healthcare Program brings energy access to healthcare infrastructure in the indigenous and conflict-affected communities of Northern Kachin.

These remote communities suffer from limited access to quality healthcare and lack of reliable electricity after Myanmar’s military coup in 2021.

Essential healthcare services were severely interrupted amidst armed conflict hindering the livelihood and safety of local residents.

Our local findings show that lack of electricity disproportionately affects rural communities of Myanmar in both access and affordability, as only 13% of Kachin state has electricity.

Our goal is to equip every public hospital in Kachin State with reliable and affordable solar power.

How does the power support the community?

The solar power keeps lights on at night, charges electronic devices, runs air conditioners and fans to keep patients and staff safe and comfortable.

They also keep diagnostic tools and oxygen concentrators running so that the hospital can provide quality care for their patients. Our systems do not address all the problems that the hospital is facing, but they improve quality and access of healthcare to the community.

Our Predictions

We estimate that full program implementation would eliminate an estimated 280 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

We anticipate a significant increase in the number of patients served by healthcare facilities, and expect an expansion of both services offered and hours operated by these facilities.

To date, we have made one installation that has drastically improved the access and quality of care of a local hospital.

“With the help of Atutu, our hospital's critical equipment like oxygen machines, suction machines, nebulizers, and ECG machines are always operational, ensuring prompt treatment. Additionally, solar-power allows us to store a wider range of medicines with a reliable cooling system.”

  • 2024 Northern Kachin Hospital Installation

In May of 2024, we made our first installation at a hospital in Northern Kachin State. The hospital has been providing critical healthcare for the local community since 1961.

Support our projects

We are currently working on mapping, identifying, and collaborating with 300+ healthcare facilities in Kachin State who are severely under-resourced. We invite you to join us in our efforts in electrifying all these facilities.
